About electric vehicles

Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) replace the internal combustion engine with one or more electric motors powered by a high-voltage battery pack. They emit no tailpipe pollutants and typically offer instant torque delivery, lower running cost per kilometre and reduced maintenance compared to gasoline or diesel cars.

Battery capacity is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh); larger packs give longer range but add weight and cost. Range figures on this site are manufacturer-claimed (typically EPA in North America, WLTP in Europe). Real-world range depends on speed, ambient temperature, terrain and driving style.

Charging speeds are split into AC (slower, home/destination, typically 7–22 kW) and DC fast charging (50–350 kW). Most modern EVs add roughly 200–300 km of range in 15–20 minutes at a high-power DC station.

Specifications and prices are estimates compiled from public sources including Wikipedia, Wikidata, Auto-Data.net, EPA fuel economy data and NHTSA recall records. Always verify with the manufacturer or authorized dealer before making a purchase decision.
